Description

The Ripjaws V DDR4 RAM is aimed at demanding computer users, such as gamers, professionals in video and image editing, designers, and those who require high performance from their computer.

DDR4

DDR4 is the fourth generation of RAM technology for computers. It replaces DDR3 and offers increased speeds and capacity.

It offers operating speeds from 2133MT/s to 4800MT/s, latency (CAS Latency) from CL 9 to CL 22, while its capacity has increased up to 32GB per memory module.

For speed (MT/s) and capacity (GB), the larger the size we choose, the better performance we will have in our system, while for latency (CL), we want the smallest size for the speed (MT/s) we have chosen.

The above characteristics should be compatible with the specifications of our motherboard.

Ripjaws V provides a speed of 3600MT/s, with CL16 and 8GB per memory module.

Compatibility

DDR4 technology is compatible with specific motherboards and processors. Indicatively, DDR4 is compatible with Intel Skylake, Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake series processors and the latest Intel processors, as well as AMD Ryzen and Threadripper series processors.

However, for compatibility with your motherboard, you need to ensure that your motherboard supports DDR4 technology from the manufacturer. Compatibility depends on the processor platform and the type of motherboard you are using.

XMP & EXPO

XMP & EXPO is a technology that allows us to increase the frequency and performance of our computer's memory without the need for manual adjustments. (XMP/EXPO) is easily activated from the BIOS, is available on certain RAM memories, and is supported by certain motherboards.

The Ripjaws V DDR4 RAM has (XMP 2.0) profiles with performances:

  • Speed (XMP 2.0): 3600 MT/s
  • CAS Latency (XMP 2.0): 16-16-16-36
  • Voltage (XMP 2.0): 1.35V

Cooling & Design

The aluminum construction material combined with the memory height of 42mm, which is an ideal size to fit large CPU coolers, helps to keep the memory and the entire computer at a fairly low temperature even during the most demanding operations.

This review is about the capacity: 64 GB

For potential buyers, I did not receive the CL 16 - 16 - 16 - 36 (bdie) as mentioned, but the CL 16 - 22 - 22 - 42 (referring to the 2x32gb module kit) from SK hynix. Performance will be shown in the future.

  • The price is a bit high but it's worth it for 3600Mhz and cl16. Nothing beats having 16gb of these ram sticks for mid-end builds

I give it 4 stars because as a beginner in building a pc, I encountered issues with the XMP application. Easy installation, everything was fine, but when I applied the profile, it went into a bootloop and I had to constantly do a CMOS reset. I have Ryzen 5 5600G & B550 Aorus Elite AX 2V 1.3 Rev. What I did to solve it was to manually overclock with the XMP profile disabled. I set the dram voltage to 1.35v & 18-24-24-24-42 and left everything else on auto, and it worked fine. However, at 36 frequency, it restarted, so I lowered it to 34. So far, everything is good.

Easily reached 3600MHz 16-16-16-36 on a b550 Aorus Elite V2 board. Full day of memtest86 testing, no errors. Bandwidth is also great.
