Indeed, it doesn't illuminate the ceiling at all and it's annoying when it's turned on because you can't see the wooden detail at all. Overall, it's a decent purchase for its price. I really liked the design of it. Very difficult to install, took about two hours with a professional electrician. Also, I was expecting more light that is not cold, the kind that tires you, but the kind that they now call daylight. The issue is that the ceiling is not illuminated at all, so I am considering getting a floor lamp that will target the ceiling. Other than that, I'm glad I got this one with the 7 lights because the lighting would have been insufficient.
