I bought the 43" model on 24/11/21 for €328 after extensive research because I wanted it to have HDR10 for my PS4 and future use with PS5 or any other console.
First of all, I should mention that I previously had a simple Turbo-X TV that was 5 years old, so I am definitely satisfied with this purchase, but I do have some issues that I didn't particularly like, as well as some things that I did like, of course!
Firstly, I should mention that I also bought a LG 50" Full HDR Dolby Vision TV for the living room.
So, the Xiaomi TV was very easy to set up and install. I had it up and running in 8 minutes, I scanned channels, adjusted the picture settings, and connected my Google account so that it automatically connects to Wi-Fi and pairs with my phone. I was ready to enjoy it!
First of all, it has perfect viewing angles, fantastic colors, and it's quite user-friendly as long as you have some knowledge of technology!
As for HD channels, especially when there's a good (mostly foreign) movie with good resolution, it looks amazing.
For Greek channels, it's average to good for the new ones, and for the regular Greek programs, news, etc., it didn't impress me much. This is because the processor reduces the resolution from 4K and reproduces its own pixels to fill in the gaps, resulting in a less vibrant image compared to foreign movies, etc.
Also, when changing channels, the screen freezes for half a second (only in that moment) and then plays normally. (It's not something significant, but I have to mention it.)
So, if you want it for simple household use and to watch Greek TV shows or those Greek soap operas that air at night, I wouldn't recommend it. It's better to get a simple full HDR TV from Samsung or LG, which are among the top 5 manufacturers and will give you better picture quality.
As for the PS4, the picture is simply magical!
However, when I go to the video output settings on the PS4 and select "automatic" to enable HDR, it says "The TV does not support HDR," and that's when I encountered the first issue!!
I searched the internet, YouTube, etc., and even the videos didn't have better results until I found a video that explained that by disabling 2 out of the 3 HDMI ports, HDR can be enabled on the PS4. And it actually worked, even though I had lower resolution afterwards (at least for what I'm currently playing), and I switched it back to the original settings since the picture was perfect. I was just playing around with the TV and PS4 settings and capabilities.
It was all very strange and random, and I can't figure out why it happens!!
With the LG TV that I mentioned, I connected the PS4 and it immediately recognized HDR. It even displayed the HDR logo on the screen, and I think the picture quality was slightly better compared to the Xiaomi TV, and the reasons are:
First, because it's an LG, of course!
Second, because the game resolution is not 4K or 8K, so the Xiaomi TV doesn't perform as well as it should.
So, if you have a PS4 Pro or PS5, you will have the picture and resolution you want. If you have the regular PS4, you will still have a great picture, but with the issue I mentioned regarding HDR, which I also explained how to fix. It's not difficult (even though I struggled quite a bit to find the solution).
That's all for now...
Edit 22/12/21: I tried Netflix, watched a couple of TV series with 3 and 6 seasons, around 3-4 movies, and 2 documentaries, so now I have a more comprehensive opinion...
Movies that are UHDR, 4K, or Dolby Vision play wonderfully, and I would rate them 8 or 9 out of 10, only because I have the LG TV as a comparison, which simply performs better.
I hope I helped, and I tried to be objective and detailed.
Edit: After 1 year of heavy use on my PS4, Netflix, YouTube, and regular TV, I haven't encountered any issues. I don't know what goes wrong for others who leave negative comments, but personally, I am quite satisfied so far.
However, my opinion remains that with an additional 50 euros, you can get more quality devices, so don't get stuck on the 50-euro option.
The first two months, excluding the Light bleed from the top side, everything was fine.
Two months after purchase, it presents terrible ghosting (burn in) without significant use.
No star. Stay away from this television. Wasted money. It crashes when you change channels. You have to unplug it to restart and play again. I have already changed the motherboard once.
After a year of use, it hasn't had a single issue. Daily use for everything, tv, YouTube, Spotify, streaming like Disney, Prime etc, nothing, it understands nothing, a beast. I even cast Audible for audiobooks when I do chores, it has incredible capabilities! And if you have the remote on your phone, you don't even need to search for where you left the remote, incredible control over everything. Perfect sound, vivid picture, amazing HD.
The worst thing I have ever bought until today. It sticks and turns off, so you need to unplug it every now and then and wait a few minutes to plug it back in and restart it.
Stay away!!!
Although Xiaomi products are usually top notch, the television is one of the exceptions...I bought it more than a year ago, mainly because of the reliable brand and Android TV (pre-installed netflix, Vodafone TV installation, Kodi, Playstore, casting capability, etc)...The television experiences incredibly annoying freezes, especially when you choose to watch TV...black screen, caption "acquiring data" in the middle that doesn't go away, freezes in apps, freezes and turns off on its own, etc., resulting in the need for constant restart...picture and sound quality are decent, the Android TV is a great feature...
Very mediocre in everything with not so rare crashes and the weirdest thing... it opens by itself at night! Just because a company produces decent mobile phones doesn't mean that their other products will be good too! I wouldn't recommend it at all.
The television is perfect in all aspects, but there are many bugs with the remote control that often doesn't work properly and does things on its own, but the television is perfect.
Nothing exceptional but very good for its price.
Rarely, but 1-2 times the User Interface was lagging and I had to restart it by cutting off the power supply and it fixed it.
In general, I have other Xiaοmi devices (mobile phone, robotic vacuum cleaner, health band) and I have nothing exceptional to say about all of them as devices, but they are very good for their price
We are really talking about tragic television. Netflix freezes the universe, transmission from mobile to screen with a 3-day delay, full pixels... Seriously, take a radio instead of getting this one. For all we say, this company does nothing. Definitely not with televisions anyway... I hope I helped...
I won't bore you with many words,
The operating system crashes......!!!!!
The operating system is slow......!!!!!
Difficult use of the remote control for typing......!!!!!
I have had the TV for 6 months and I only use it to watch movies and series by streaming from my Plex server at home. The picture is very nice for its value, it has very good black and nice colors. The biggest downside of the TV is the Android TV, the processor of the TV is slower than a toaster, resulting in lagging applications and slow menu navigation. This is a common problem with all "cheap" TVs with Android, but with my old TV from LG with the webOS operating system, I didn't have such problems.
It freezes while zapping (day after day I have to unplug it to reboot). The technician's recommendation was to avoid zapping up and down the channels, but to directly select what I want from the channel list. Not a convenient solution for home use! Otherwise, it is a simple television in terms of picture and sound.
It is very slow, it has synchronization problems with information and channel, it freezes for a long time and needs to be unplugged to recover. The technician has come twice. He changed the card but the problems continue to a lesser extent. It also loses channels even though I have changed the antenna plug. I have two other TVs in the house and the channels work fine, so I believe it is a problem with the TV.
Average in everything. I don't know what other options are available at the price it was purchased, but for the intended use, it's not worth it.
It was placed in a senior living room and at least once a week I need to intervene because "a button was accidentally pressed and it doesn't return to the channels on its own," etc.
I imagine the picture quality is equivalent to the price, however, the remote control is particularly difficult to use and doesn't help with the overall navigation experience, as the buttons appear fake.
If I could, I would give it 0 stars. Terrible remote control, terrible slow, constantly freezes even with the latest update. It's not worth even 0 euros. Please, for the sake of your sanity, do not buy it. Finally, those useless dirty Chinese channels on the Mi TV, why can't we remove them?
Another useless Xiaomi product...
It is a good choice for its price. Specifically, I noticed the following:
Positives: good sound, user-friendly menu, Android software, good remote control, viewing angles, USB for movies, perfect Chromecast function, nice appearance with slim margin. It plays Stremio.
Negatives: Completely unstable legs (you need to put it on a wall mount), it has light bleed in many areas (annoying, but not too much, however, it is a risk because it varies on each device, so be prepared at the beginning that it may need replacement), slow to open, Xiaomi's PatchWall "does not work in our region" (so I don't know if it's worth it or not), it is a bit wide in thickness so it does not fit nicely on the wall. After a year and observing other TVs, I believe it is very slow to open each application (without loading it, I have 3 applications) and to open.
Owner of the aforementioned television, for a week now. Coming from a smart TV F&U 43" 4k, the difference is day and night. Especially in terms of usability and quality. So far, I have no complaints. I found everything I was looking for in a television. 2-3 minor glitches are negligible compared to the freezes my previous TV had. I believe the only case (maybe) where someone would not be satisfied with this particular TV is if they are coming from a Korean OLED 60"+ that costs over €1000.
Away... Over time, it has played with you... In the beginning, everything was great, but after a year, it enters safe mode on its own, turns on the menu by itself, and takes a long time to open... It's a complete disaster
I have it for about a month. It replaced an arielli, so the comparison is made with that one. Its image is very satisfactory, while in 4k resolution I am simply amazed. The viewing angle is very good and the sound is equally satisfactory. I am connected to wifi 5Ghz and the hybrids play normally (some wrote that they only work with ethernet). The remote control is easily caught and its menu is user-friendly. The only observations I have are that it takes 2-3 sec to change the channel and that sometimes when I turn it on, it has lost the internet connection, which is fixed by restarting. Overall, I am very satisfied and consider it value for money.
It freezes once a day, not being able to do anything except unplugging it. The picture is funny. The white spills around like some cheap Chinese phones from the 90s. The SMART TV functions are nice, although not user-friendly since it constantly freezes. There are no updates anywhere. The build quality is like some plastic toys with bad plastic. Truly a sad product. I wouldn't buy it again, not even for 100 euros.
I was expecting Xiaomi to release a decent television like many others it offers. The sound is average, you have to increase the volume above 50 to hear clearly. For an Android TV, I was expecting a smooth experience, but it keeps freezing. I have reset it twice and it still freezes.
1/2 USB ports are not working, only one has power. The hardware is good, the only downside is the 2GB RAM, but it's not a problem. The image is perfect. What impressed me is that it has very good wifi. And it's value for money!
Contrary to what I heard about this specific model, it hasn't stuck to me at all. The only complaint I have is the sound, which has excessively too much bass.
Quality for its money.
Does not provide information about TV programs.
From the side, the image is so-so, a little blurry, but from a good angle it is perfect.
Fast in playing movies from USB3 disk (NTFS), even 4K HDR.
Official AndroidTV is a plus. Playstore from its mother and I also installed AptoidTV store.
Kodi plays normally. VLC as well. (Casting from VLC PC to TV also works)
Sometimes lags on Netflix (rarely and I don't know what's wrong).
Spotify works perfectly and with casting (listen on another device) from mobile or laptop.
I have connected it with optical to an amplifier, but it cannot simultaneously send to the speakers AND the amplifier (either TV speakers or SPDIF). Its sound is generally good.
I haven't tested the satellite yet.
Very good for its price.
User-friendly menu, average picture and construction above average as well.
The sound is below average but that never bothered me when buying a TV, considering that I always use external speakers and sound amplifier.
The only thing it lacks is some digital audio output, like optical, for connection to a surround system.
I solved the problem with a Bluetooth DAC, which has a digital output.
Regarding the freezes that other users mention, I also experienced the problem.
However, after 2 hard resets and TV reconfiguration, I haven't encountered any freezes again.
This means that the problem is in the software and Xiaomi needs to release a firmware update.
Very good construction, good picture, average sound.
2. Tremendous remote control, it hasn't frozen so far, I highly recommend it without reservations.
