Greece, Europe, and the Left have been in crisis in recent years. These are three crises that are in a dialectical osmosis, in the sense that one affects and feeds the other - although each has its own underlying causes. The analyses in this small volume by the honorary professor specializing in European affairs at the University of Athens and former ambassador-advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, P.K. Ioakeimidis, focus on all three aspects of the crisis through a critical approach. The texts in the volume are divided into four sections: the first examines the nature, identity, and characteristics of the European crisis in all its forms (economic, political, institutional, legitimation, etc.), as well as the multiple challenges that Europe faces in its external environment (Russia, the Middle East, the rise of ISIS, etc.). The nature, characteristics, and peculiarities of the Greek crisis are also examined. The second section includes texts that "monitor," analyze, and evaluate the behavior of the SYRIZA/ANEL government (negotiations, etc.) in the European Union and the multifaceted consequences that it has produced. The third section refers to the modern European Left and Social Democracy, the content of the crisis it is facing, and the ideological references and challenges it faces in the globalized environment. Finally, a concluding text examines the conditions for overcoming the crisis in Greece.
