When people, either as individuals or as societies, go through a crisis, when the way they live does not work well, the need for change arises. The changes proposed in these cases belong to three categories:
a) General, external, and impersonal changes. That is, social, state, or cultural changes.
b) External but personal changes.
c) Personal and internal changes.
Various ideologies propose general, external, and impersonal changes. The Holy Scripture proposes changes of the last two categories. If there is any tension between political ideologies and the Christian tradition, it consists precisely in this: Political ideologies believe that people change when social structures change, while in the Christian tradition, the belief prevails that only the transformed, that is, the considered humans, can bring about the structural changes that will lead to the improvement of society.
