I confirm the excellent sharpness throughout the image even at f 1.8. The out-of-focus image (bokeh) is extremely smooth without nervousness. Out-of-focus point lights remain circular. If you like portraits with the model standing out impressively clear in front of a blurry background, this lens will thrill you. The depth of field at f 1.8 is such that you don't have to worry at all about the background. The plena can make disappear any detail that might distract the viewer's attention! At 47 Mpixels resolution, a portrait with shoulders shows skin pores, eyelashes and eyebrows hairs, and every small or large wrinkle so much, that it may need some sharpness reduction processing! The geometry of the faces looks better than that given by 85 mm lenses. The focus is not instantaneous but almost always precise. With the Z7 II, the eye recognition capability is fully utilized (and selection of the one that interests us) in humans and animals, tracking them when they move or even when they are momentarily not visible, and maintaining focus on them constantly and accurately! Despite the weight (almost 1 Kg) and the price, I believe it is worth both the effort of carrying and the expense.
