The dominance of German science (and scientific tradition) in the European reality of the late 19th and early 20th centuries also influenced the Greek academic community, as the University of Athens in many ways followed the German model from its establishment.

From the influence of the German Historical School on economic thought (and the shaping of economic policy) and fiscal policy in Greece, to the formation of sociological thought, or again from the structural/organizational impact of the German university on the Greek one to Nietzschean influences or the presence of eugenics in public discourse, this collective volume sheds light on aspects that perhaps everyone suspects or approaches, but rarely fully realize and know.
