Today it has become absolutely understandable that the role of the communist states of Eastern Europe in the outbreak of the Greek Civil War was decisive and complex. The study of this network, referred to in the literature as the international communist system, and the highlighting of its role in the Greek developments of the 1940s led to fruitful conclusions and undoubtedly constitute one of the most important results of the opening of the archives of the former communist states. The international communist system functioned simultaneously as a network of mutual support for state entities and political parties, as well as a mechanism for promoting a political ideology that aimed to change the world according to its own perspective.

This book is much more than a compilation of archival documents. Its goal is to help the reader understand the characteristics of international communist involvement in the Greek Civil War. How the international communist system was activated to support the struggle of Greek communists and what kind of relationships it formed with them.
