Description

The greatest historical research ever conducted on Aris Velouchiotis.

Wherever he went, I went.
I had to see the places where he acted and hear the people who knew him and lived with him. The fortunate thing is that in the early 1970s, when I started the research, I met in person most of those who loved or hated him, who fought against him or were his comrades. Thus, many of his characteristics, behaviors, and genuine phrases were preserved, passed down from mouth to mouth, like a folk song. And I was lucky to have great guides in every place. It is one thing to go searching and another to be guided to the first guerrilla hideout of Mount Parnassus by Captain Pericles and Captain Nikiforos. It is one thing to gaze at the mountain from afar and another to have the black-hooded Katsantonis show you the passages of Helidona.

(Dionysis Haritopoulos)

It is known that Dionysis Haritopoulos for many years collected and mainly cross-referenced anything related to Aris from a voluminous bibliography, from some not easily accessible archives, from endless hours of interviews with hundreds of partisans, captains, black-hooded men, officers, and villagers, and followed his footsteps from mountain to mountain.

As a result, this volume about the mythical figure of Aris. Aris Velouchiotis, who for the Italians and Germans was a wanted leader of partisans. For the British, a war criminal. For the leadership of the Greek conservative faction, a butcher and bandit. For the leadership of the Communist Party of Greece, a renegade provocateur and traitor.

Haritopoulos proves that he is the man who created the largest voluntary army in Greek history and a Free Greece within enslaved Europe.

The work in its previous editions (all sold out) has emerged as one of the top-selling historical works. The volume "Topos," in the new, revised edition by the author, comes to meet the demand of new readers who have not been able to acquire this valuable work through previous editions.
