We know very little about the history of Turkish cinema and for this reason we are unaware that some Greeks contributed, already from 1896, to its birth and development. Itinerant filmmakers, visionary theater entrepreneurs who believed in cinema despite the adverse conditions of the time (complete absence of electricity, censorship, etc.), theater managers in the City, as well as daring pioneering creators, marked the beginnings of cinema in Turkey until 1922. In the interwar period, the first Greek professional filmmakers appeared, while from the early post-war years onwards, a multitude of talented technicians (operators, sound engineers, editors, etc.) appeared, who in turn contributed to the development of the seventh art - although the cultural environment there did not allow miracles.

The album "From Paris to Beyond: Greek Filmmakers of the City" combines knowledge and method with love for the City and love for Cinema. It is based on unexplored documents that the authors collected patiently and devotedly over a fifteen-year period. The rich visual material that accompanies it is a true witness to this dedication.

The album "From Paris to Beyond: Greek Filmmakers of the City" offers a different perspective on Constantinople, that of Greek intellectuals. And furthermore, a different perspective on Greek, Turkish, and Balkan cinema - which is why it is a valuable contribution to a bibliography that is completely lacking on the subject. This album is owed to the passion of two creators of the City: the filmmaker and screenwriter Giorgos Bozi and the well-known author (Politi Kitchen) Soula Bozi.
