Inspired by the depth of emotions he experienced during the vinyl listening sessions he organized during his tenure at the Bridgestone Museum of Art in Tokyo, Hideo Matsushita was determined to enable more people to experience the warmth of analog listening. In a small apartment in Shinjuku, he founded Audio-Technica and began developing cartridges. His first two products, the AT-1 and the AT-3, were successful and allowed Hideo to expand his business. He opened a larger headquarters in Machida, where the company still operates today.

Building on their passion for listening, they expanded their activities to design critically acclaimed headphones, turntables, and microphones, remaining a family business and maintaining the belief that high-quality sound should be accessible to everyone.
