The Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 50 series is a premium USB Type-A and Type-C units that provide professional-grade security with FIPS 197 AES hardware encryption certification, 256-bit in XTS mode, including protection against BadUSB with digitally signed firmware and against Brute Force password attacks.

The Vault Privacy 50 supports the option of multiple passwords (Administrator, User, and One-Time Recovery) with complex or passphrase modes. This enhances the ability to recover access to data if any of the passwords are forgotten. The traditional complex mode allows a password of 6-16 characters using 3 out of 4 character sets. The new passphrase mode allows for a numeric PIN, sentence, word list, or even lyrics from 10 to 64 characters. The administrator can enable a user password and a one-time recovery password or reset the user password to regain access to the data. To assist with password entry, the "eye" symbol can be activated to reveal the entered password, reducing typographical errors that lead to failed login attempts.

For protection against potential malicious programs on untrusted systems, both the Administrator and the User can set the unit to read-only mode to protect against write access. Additionally, the built-in virtual keyboard protects passwords from keyloggers or screenloggers.

With FIPS 197 certification and TAA compliance, organizations can customize and configure VP50 series drives with a Product ID (PID) for integration with standard endpoint management software to meet corporate IT and cybersecurity requirements through the Kingston Customization Program.

Small and medium-sized businesses can use the Administrator role to locally manage their drives, such as using the Administrator to configure or reset user passwords or one-time recovery passwords for employees, regain access to data on locked drives, and comply with laws and regulations when forensic investigation is required.
