[...] This book is based on MP-07, but at the same time it develops its own additional conceptual and methodological core, which is rooted in the history and theory of architectural design, architecture, and construction.
A Computer Science book in Architecture is not a Computer Science book for architects. It is not just a computer-aided design book. As we will see, we are at the beginning of major changes that require training for architects, students, and professionals in fields quite different from those that the majority considers relevant. Digital design is extensively explored, and in depth that is not found in other related books, many of which essentially explain and comment on the user guide of a program. Then, the treatment expands from digital design, on the one hand, towards parametric design, on the other hand, towards digital construction. A separate chapter deals with computational approaches to 3D surfaces and solids, covering from the initial models of de Casteljau, Coons, Bezier, to the recent T-splines, constituting the field on basic geometric principles, which I believe will help the reader understand complex mathematical concepts. A large part of the book, which spans various chapters horizontally, deals with the Building Information Model ('BIM') and related international standards, something that, as far as I know, is done for the first time in Greek literature, while I have not found a book covering all the related topics in the international literature. Historical data, appropriate illustrations, and a concise bibliography are provided in all chapters.
