Description

Ideal for a wide range of photo and video applications, including landscapes, portraits, street photography, architecture, and events, the contemporary 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN lens from Sigma is a small, lightweight, and bright standard zoom for mirrorless cameras with an APS-C sensor.

It features a Sony E mount and provides a versatile full-frame equivalent zoom range of 27-75 mm and a large constant aperture of f/2.8 throughout the zoom range. The lens design includes three high-precision aspherical elements molded in glass combined with a special low dispersion element. Together they minimize the total number of elements for excellent optical quality without excessive weight.

The autofocus is extremely fast and silent thanks to the lens's stepper motor, which can be particularly useful when shooting videos or subjects that move quickly, such as children and animals. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of just 12.1cm, giving it the ability to be used for close-up macro-style photography.

Truly awesome lens, sharpness, AF speed, if you put it on you will forget to take it off, I have put aside the sigma prime and the zoom with a fixed f 2.8 solves your hands, it competes with the equivalent Sony and Tamron, if you have a high budget Sony is worth it, if not, sigma with closed eyes in my humble opinion!

Amazing crop frame lens - after many purchases and changes, it is the only one I need (Sony a6300)

This review is about the mount: Fujifilm X

Very honest for its price, for anyone who wants a zoom lens with a fixed aperture. It definitely has negatives, but you get what you pay for. I was torn between this one and the kit lens and chose this one because of the aperture

To start, let me say that I am an amateur photographer and I mainly focus on street and travel photography. The direct comparison I will make is with the Sigma 16mm f1.4 lens, which is my main and absolute favorite lens, always used with the same Sony a6400 camera.

On the positive side: it is very lightweight and small in size, so it doesn't tire me even when I hold it for hours. It has fast and reliable autofocus throughout the field of view. Considering it is an f2.8 lens, it is also very affordable.

On the negative side: it lacks the sharpness of the Sigma 1.4. I expected some deviation, but not such a significant one. It's not that the photos are bad or excessively soft, but the difference is noticeable. The body is made of plastic, and while it is of good quality, the truth is that considering its weight and price, it couldn't have been achieved differently.

In conclusion, it is a very convenient and pocket-friendly all-rounder lens, with an aperture that allows you to shoot in low light. However, if your goal is to be like Magnum or National Geographic, I probably wouldn't recommend this lens as your main one. Nevertheless, if you are a hobbyist, go for it without hesitation and you will enjoy it without being burdened by its weight, and in the end, you might not even stop using it

At this price, I was torn between this one and the Sony 18-105mm F4. I chose the Sigma because of its F2.8 aperture, which I found to have better sharpness based on my research. I don't regret it, the lens is very decent for its price. I have been using it with the Sony a6400 for a month now.

    Pros:
    - Good sharpness
    - Ideal for portraits
    - Satisfactory low light performance
    - Good macro capabilities
    - Fast and silent autofocus

    Cons:
    - Vignetting
    - Some to significant chromatic aberration when ISO exceeds 1000 (easily corrected in Lightroom)
    - No image stabilization

In conclusion, I believe it is the ideal budget lens to replace the kit lens and achieve better results in various situations.

Well, with very little and brief use, I will give you some things that might help and I will come back for more.
    Positives:
    - Very light and small
    - Easy and smooth zoom
    - Very satisfactory image
    - Its price
    Negatives:
    - The most important for me is that when zooming, it loses focus
    - It creates noticeable vignetting
    - The zoom is reversed
    - Focus speed is moderate but satisfactory

The main reason I got it is for the image quality, so that I can easily match the a6500 with the a7iii, something that was difficult for me with the Sony 18-105. If it will satisfy me in this aspect, I will let you know in the very near future.
