Guys, I just bought the 980PRO as a secondary disk for gaming. In Windows, I use the SN750 and I am completely satisfied, but it's only 250GB.

Basically, I am more than an "Enthusiast" when it comes to Samsung SSDs. I had the 830, 840, 850, 860, and then I switched to two 970EVO Plus. As I mentioned before, now I am using the 980PRO 1GB and I am torn between the 990PRO 1GB or the SN850 1GB for Windows and applications. Which one would you recommend and why? On one hand, I want both to be Samsung. On the other hand, if I judge by the SN750, we are talking about equally top-notch SSD... So guys, I need your input! Thank you in advance!

I got it for the Ps5. I saw in many YouTube videos recommending it as "official" for the Ps5. The game transfer was very fast. I also have an Nvme on my PC, but the transfer on the Ps5 was lightning fast. I didn't expect that. The other reason I got it, besides needing more space, is because I don't want to burden the main Ps5 since if it breaks, it can't be replaced because it's integrated (non-removable), and the Ps5 will be affected if something like that happens. So I will put all the weight on it.

I installed it on the PS5 as extra storage space. Incredibly fast. I transferred 250GB within 3 minutes.

I bought the Western Digital Black SN850 SSD (1TB capacity) with the built-in heatsink a few days ago for use in the Playstation 5. It has a maximum read speed of 7 GBs/sec, and after formatting, the PS5 benchmark rates it at 6.5 GBs/sec (the PS5 slightly reduces the theoretical maximum speed of all SSDs). I transferred almost 500 GBs of data from the internal SSD of the PS5 to the new one in just a few minutes. Game loading is just as fast as with the internal SSD.

You can buy the SSD alone and add a different heatsink, spending slightly less money overall, but 1. according to some reviews, this specific SSD easily heats up with continuous use in a PC, 2. cheap heatsinks of €10 may not provide the same heat dissipation as the manufacturer's built-in heatsink.

For the convenience of the average user and mainly for safety reasons (it's not worth saving €20-30 and risking damaging a €150+ disk due to the installation of an inadequate €10-20 heatsink), I recommend buying an SSD with a built-in heatsink. The Western Digital Black SN850 is one of the fastest and best SSDs, both for use in the PS5 and in a PC. The manufacturer's warranty is for 5 years.
