Laptop that had Windows 7, I installed Windows 10 and with 4GB+ it became brand new. Before, it used to shut down due to temperature and struggling. No comparison to the previous laptop. Windows load immediately, no freezing. Because I am an impatient person, I bought it from Skroutz for an extra €15 compared to a well-known Chinese website. It doesn't matter, it's worth it for anyone who is eager.
The Samsung disks are a reliable choice. I upgraded from an 860 EVO 500GB to this one because the capacity of the previous one was not enough for me.
Upgrading laptop from a 1 TB mechanical disk to Samsung 870 SSD. Response speed is almost 10 times faster compared to the old HDD disk. Restart and shutdown time is lightning fast and opening difficult applications quickly. The transition to the new data usage of the laptop is amazing, and everything opens and responds perfectly. *The only thing left is durability over time and reliability. It gets 99/100 in speed.

Just compare the speeds and you will see for yourselves. The difference is not small, it is huge.
The prices are negligible.
The only reason to go for SATA is either because you made a mistake or because you filled all the NVMe slots or generally because you have an old motherboard that does not support it.

In this case, however, it might still not be worth it and it would be better to go for an HDD.
HDDs are more reliable in case of damage due to their construction. They are like a disk and needle. Like a turntable.
That's why they are so slow. But if they get damaged, you are very likely to be able to recover your files.
SSDs are chips that if they burn out, you throw them in the trash and that's it, so for those of you who have important files, besides backing up, always keep one on a hard HDD.
So with all this, I think that SATA drives are just surplus for me at least.

Excellent, reliable, managed to revive a 10-year-old computer without any problems. For everyday users, there are no limitations to its capabilities. For more demanding users, the machine it will be installed on definitely plays a role. In any case, it is worth it. The accompanying software is perfect and the "cloning" program from an older disk is truly incredible help. With closed eyes for the 7th Samsung SSD with increased capacity.
Since I discovered the Samsung SSDs (850, 860, 870..), I wouldn't change them for anything. They are incredibly fast and reliable for everyday professional use.

The problem I have is that I can't clone a disk with any program to have a backup after 30% of writing it gives an ERROR (Free space 636 Gb)... You will not become wiser from my comment, as others have already written them in dozens of previous comments. I got it to replace an old laptop disk with the same capacity, which wasn't even an SSD, and of course, the machine now runs like a charm!
The image is with the 860 at full PERFORMANCE, in normal mode it runs as the mother says and it is a storage disk for over a year. For the operating system, I installed the 990 pre M2, at full it doesn't reach the 860, it just goes as the company says.
No comments needed. Every Samsung generation is a must. I have installed it on 2 desktops and one laptop. And the software is very helpful (especially the Migration tool for transferring the operating system, if you don't do a fresh installation).

But I can say that the transition from a same capacity hdd literally transformed an old dell laptop. It became another, a new computer. I no longer expect endless hours to open. Nor to see a photo. Or to open a file.
The improvement is so stunning that it would have been worth upgrading a long time ago, regardless of the cost. Which cost is now minimal.
A very big plus is the Samsung tool with which I copied the data (and the windows together) from the old hard drive. He succeeded on the second try. The first time the computer shut down in the middle due to power. It continued after reconnecting and the files seemed to have been copied. But it didn't boot. The second time everything was fine.
The transfer of files was one reason why I didn't change the hard drive. I was lazy to install windows and all the programs, as well as the extremely time-consuming copying of hundreds of GB of data. And I didn't want to pay for a tool like Samsung's, nor to use one of the "free" cloning programs that are circulating and that I didn't know what they would leave on the new disk. Because as we all know, nothing is free.
After 1 year of use (2tb model), its performance has slightly decreased (I am attaching a photo of the results). I also have a 4-year-old 860 that still works perfectly until today with similar speeds as the 870.
It is possibly the best SATA SSD you can get. Obviously, you pay extra for reliability and speed. I definitely recommend it for installing the operating system on an old PC or laptop. However, for gaming and other purposes, it's better to go for a 1TB SSD from another company at the same price
It reads quickly and opens all applications quickly. It boots up Windows quickly. It has enough space and I believe it is enough. It is worth its money.
Purchased on 15/09/23 with the purpose of "reviving" a PC, with a dual-core processor (775socket) that I had built in 2009 and was abandoned for a long time. The PC now works without freezing and I can comfortably do my work. I dare to say that I opened Photoshop and After Effects at the same time and it didn't freeze at all. No comparison to the magnetic disk I had (which is now used for storage). Easy disk cloning with Samsung's program.
I bought 2 and they have been working for about 6 months in a ZFS mirror array for backup, without any issues. The speed seems to be the same as the first day. Time will tell how good it is.
Although my system is old and does not reach the promised speeds, at least in standard mode, the difference with the Kingston I had is evident, mainly in file transfer where the transfer speed remains constant throughout, unlike the other one that fluctuated like crazy.

However, I am referring to its reliability. As a boot drive for the operating system and as a storage drive for your files, especially if they are large. When it comes to storing our files, we shouldn't compromise for just a few euros difference. SSDs don't give warnings like traditional hard drives before they die. So, we choose reputable and reliable brands. It offers one of the highest (for SATA connection) read/write speeds - as it has DRAM memory that most no longer have (for cost reduction reasons). Ideal for those who store files for editing (photos/videos) using a SATA connection. Buy a larger capacity than you currently need. Because it will work even more comfortably before it fills up, and because you will be able to use it for a long time. It comes with impressive software for those who want to fully utilize the capabilities provided by Samsung.
A disk that is worth 100% of its money. I have installed Windows and some games - applications and they run much faster than the other SSD I have. I highly recommend it.
Guarantee and if the few seconds don't matter to someone and by few we mean at most 8-9, then there is no reason to go for an NVMe, even though prices are dropping!
The details concern a midi tower HP PRODESK for professional use and not for gaming. In replacement of a KINGSTON 240GB that worked flawlessly for 6 years, but in the last year it had two blue screen occurrences (without viruses and heavy load), with disk health at 90%. I decided to try a SAMSUNG that has been working for almost 2 months with WINDOWS 10 PRO, 8GB RAM & CORE i5-7500 processor. We are definitely talking about a technology difference of 5-6 years, but it boots in an incredible time, for its price it is worth it as long as we don't forget why we need it and how much we will load it, it performs very well in temperatures, maximum 45 degrees. I consider it a good choice for an average user. If anything different arises, I will come back.
For its cost in relation to its capacity, performance, and brand (thus its reliability), I consider it to be a very good and honest choice, especially if it is not intended as a boot and operating system disk. However, even for such use, it would work just fine. Just the more expensive model would be even better for this purpose (but also much more expensive).
There is only one issue with the company's software, which, from a certain point onwards, refuses to load correctly during computer startup. It does run in the background, but "hidden," without the convenience of visibility and management. This behavior is a side effect of the software in relation to the operating system, and they don't seem to want to fix it. However, this does not only apply to this SSD model from the company but also to many others.
I replaced a PATRIOT P210 1024GB with the 870 500GB. I downloaded the SAMSUNG MAGICIAN, which includes the DATA MIGRATION, and in one hour it completed the CLONING (transferring 287 GB). The DATA MIGRATION only transfers from any disk to a SAMSUNG SSD. I have two other PCs and a laptop, all with the 870, and they all perform excellently! And don't forget that with the RAPID STATUS function, which uses RAM, the read & write speed reaches 1000-1500. Guys, get rid of whatever disk you have and get a SAMSUNG to have peace of mind. I'm also attaching two photos to show the difference between SAMSUNG and PATRIOT...20 08 23. I continue to be impressed. I replaced a 860 EVO 1024GB (purchased for 129 euros) that was three years old with the 870 500GB to prevent accidents. I cleared it of files, leaving only the operating system with 187 GB, and with the DATA MIGRATION, I finished in 29 minutes. Now I use the 1024 as a second disk for file storage. It works so well!
