This manual for first contact with Botany and Cytology refers, in its first part, to the individual structures of plant, animal, and microbial cells (bacteria) and how they function, approaching the function of basic macromolecules. Similarities and differences between animal and plant cells are mentioned, as well as between cells of higher (or more complex) organisms and simpler ones. References to animal cells were deemed necessary, as in subsequent mainly zoological or ecological subjects, we refer to animals. Similarly, a relatively brief initial briefing on bacterial cells, even a "telegraphic" reference to viruses, was considered useful, as there are plant pathology subjects in later semesters.
In the second part, the manual refers to the various types of plant cells, the sets they constitute (tissues), and the functional collaborations of tissues within various plant organs such as roots, shoots, and leaves.
An effort has been made, mainly through diagrams, to make the various cell structures, the various cell types of plants, as well as plant organs and their anatomy understandable.
In the second part, photos are also provided, mainly from a light microscope, which is hoped to facilitate students not only for the theoretical but also for the laboratory part of the course.
The colored images, besides making reading more enjoyable, help in the easy distinction of individual structures.
