What do TV news have in common with the coffee shop, the morning shows with women's gatherings "for coffee", soap operas with fairy tales, the "traditional" game and dance with the corresponding, thematically related, TV competitions, the dozens of folkloric events of popular traditional life with their representations on television?

Such issues are studied and analyzed in this work, representations, that is, of some events of contemporary popular culture on television, in other words, issues of reproducing cultural data as cultural. The survivals of aspects of "traditional" culture are sought, but also the new representations/expressions of it, as contemporary popular culture, in various necessarily selected television programs, since, in practice, it is impossible to research the entire "television material".
The analysis of the above perceives the TV Audience as an active, active, multi-faceted, multi-layered body and not as a passive consumer of cultural products; it emphasizes "what the Audience does with the Media" and not "what the Media bring to it"; it considers its involvement in the process of television viewing as a symbolic act of creativity, as television programs are perceived and transformed by the same into "texts" of multiple readings.
The "construction" of the work is based on the theory of "uses and gratifications", on the intellectual work of the intellectuals of Cultural Studies, Cultural Populism, Postmodernism (without excluding the assistance of other theories) and on the historical-sociological view of folklore phenomena.
It is structured in three chapters: The first discusses issues related to the study of ethics from the science of Folklore, the definition of the concepts of popular culture, populism, the relationship between social stratification and consumption, the "construction" of reality by television, the projected fragmentary world of it, etc. The second briefly presents the socio-historical conditions of the 50-year period 1966-2016, for obvious reasons to folklorists; the third analyzes 19 topics related to the content of the first paragraph above. It is complemented by the Bibliography (by choice) and the Index (selected folklore terms and programs/series mentioned in the analysis).
