The fundamental basis of Plato's Republic is the perfect alignment of happiness and justice. The content of this much-discussed work is purely ethical, and yet, out of the two titles preserved by ancient tradition: Republic or On Justice, the first has prevailed, which exclusively highlights the political and social content of the dialogue.
