Description

Fast-paced and unusual plot in a thrilling thriller from the collaboration of two acclaimed authors.

The slightest deviation in the sound of a voice is enough for the internationally recognized expert in phonetic criminology, Matthias Hegel, to distinguish truth from lies. With his help, many criminals have already been convicted. But has he lied himself? His confession to the murder of a homeless woman does not seem sincere. Journalist Jula Ansorge, who specializes in cases of judicial error, is determined to uncover the truth. But when she delves into Hegel's case, putting herself in great danger, she will face incredible revelations...

The first book in the new thriller series by Vincent Kliesch and Sebastian Fitzek.
Matthias Hegel, also known as Auris, the man with bat-like hearing, had been sentenced less than a year ago to life imprisonment for murder. The mere fact that the entire court session had been held behind closed doors piqued Jula's curiosity. Despite the confession and the overwhelming weight of the evidence, the inevitable question arose of how it was possible for one of Berlin's sharpest minds - and an experienced police consultant - to murder an unknown vagrant, with whom, as it seemed, he had not confessed to having any connection. And moreover, to murder her so clumsily, without being able to hide. None of this made any sense to Jula.

Having gotten used to the not-so-good (in my opinion) twists and turns (with bright exceptions of course) of Fitzek, I was skeptical about this one. Well, Kliesch is exceptional. For the genre of books, of course. The story has scientific interest, the characters are very well constructed and gradually, and you get fully immersed in the plot.
