The leaders of the first generation of Christians preserved and developed the teachings of Jesus in the form of letters, which were written to guide and encourage the faithful, or the churches that emerged throughout the Roman Empire. Some of these letters, mainly those of James, Peter, John, and Paul, contain words of wisdom and insight that inspire millions of people from then until today.
