Description

The emergence of a new generation of urban guerrillas in Greece since 2008 raises many issues regarding the underlying causes and goals of armed struggle in the 21st century. Considering that the external analysis of this issue is scientifically flawed, the author juxtaposes two public discourses, expressed respectively in responsibility proclamations and media publications, in order to clarify the processes of self-identification and hetero-identification of modern armed struggle.

The analysis of the corresponding communication strategies reveals multiple contradictions, closely linked to the structure and functioning of the Greek and international political field, which ultimately weaken both the dynamics of the desired radical change and the scope of the mechanism defending the existing political system.
