A historical study with significant documents and rare archival material.

N. Papadatos' historical study has two main objectives: a. the publication of certain rare archival materials that will assist researchers in studying the former Soviet archives in order to enrich the bibliography on the communist movement in Greece, b. the historical interpretation of these documents.

The book contains important primary documents from the Russian Federation archives. Additionally, significant secondary sources (articles, books, studies, etc.) are referenced and recorded, which are rare and hard to find in the Greek language.
Based on the archival research, the following are examined: a. the main political reasons for the defeat of the Communists in December 1944, b. the reasons for the signing of the Treaty of Varkiza, c. the international framework of the Greek Civil War, d. the international political content of the intra-party conflicts in the KKE from 1948 onwards, and finally e. the overall interaction between the USSR and the KKE throughout the period 1944-1952.
Also included are some biographical information on key figures of the KKE during the period (from the archives of the KKE), as well as some stenographic conversations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece. Finally, there are brief biographies (portraits) of key personalities of the period, leaders of the international communist movement and the USSR.
