  I bought it on a -50% discount, so the final price with free shipping was about 105 Euros. Therefore, I believe that for 100 Euros, you are buying a premium shoe that will last you for years, as long as you take care of its leather periodically. The major difference compared to the classic Timberland boot is in its sole. This shoe, in comparison to the classic one, is truly lighter and allows you to wear it for more hours. Now, as for its durability, I hope it is as sturdy as the others.

  It is the classic 6" boot with the classic nubuck leather that has a slightly velvety feel in the classic wheat color. I don't think it comes in rust, which is a bit darker, although some stores seem to sell something that looks like rust - call and clarify it. With this sole, it departs from the average and the only disadvantage that every such boot has, and it can be worn for hours, after all, it is also lightweight. It is also very spacious, it may appear large even if it is the right size. Maybe it will need thick socks or a half size smaller. In my opinion, even with 200 euros, it is worth it.

  I had in my possession two pairs of Timberland boots. They look nice, they are heavy boots and they appear "tough" and durable. However, things are not as they seem.
  Why are they heavy, making you think of rugged boots? Because apart from the outer leather, they also have an inner leather lining that is also made of thin leather. Additionally, the insulation they have between the outer and inner leather adds to the weight. Other boots from different brands that look similar on the outside are usually lighter in weight because they don't have an inner leather lining or insulation (which is very light anyway). In that aspect, one could say that Timberland boots excel.
  However, for any shoe to excel, you should be able to use it, meaning you should be able to walk with it.

  But both the first pair I had and the second one broke in a very short time.
  What does this mean?

  • The first pair, which was Made in USA, as I had it for a while, the leather on one boot tore at the joint with the sole, creating a through hole. If you put your hand inside the boot, you could pass your finger through it, from the inside to the outside. So, the leather tore at the joint with the sole, and the hole was about three centimeters long. How long did it take for this to happen? Two years, but considering that I wore the boots for a maximum of three months and not every day, and in an urban environment where they were not heavily used, well, then we are talking about a maximum of 6 to 8 months of use. Do you consider this acceptable? Why did it tear? Because I noticed that the leather at that specific joint with the sole (on the right boot, around the front and left side) appeared "burned," meaning it was not continuous like the rest of the surface, as if it had a "scratch" at the joint, and gradually, it opened up the hole. Made in USA, huh?

  I assumed that it was just a defective one, and for that reason, I got another identical pair, as I really liked the appearance and design, and it was supposed to be very durable.

  • The second identical pair, on the other hand, was Made in China, obviously they transferred their production there, which doesn't bother me if they had quality. And this pair, within 2 years in terms of time, but in terms of use, around 6 to 7 months, broke differently. What happened to them? They have a thin plastic midsole (under the leather) that is connected to the lower sole, the main one that you step on, the rugged one. So, in both boots of the pair, and in the left and right ones, almost at the same time, the lower rugged sole detached from the thin midsole. If you looked at them from the side, they looked like an open duckbill (since they opened between the lower and midsole). Is it acceptable for something like this to happen within a period of 6-7 months of use?
  Because I felt sorry for them, I went and bought some super glue and glued them back together. Now, and until today (it's been about a year), they are fine, where they had come undone. Until recently, I heard a snap when I was wearing them, I looked to see what it was, and the left one had come off at the back of the sole, where the bottom tread sole joins the thin middle sole. Unacceptable! I glued it back, and now, in the new season, I expect it to come off - as you can understand - in the same place and the right one.

  So, two out of two pairs is not a coincidence.

  Additionally:

  • Their laces, which are thin and black, had their outer fabric coating worn out very quickly, and now their white fibers are visible. They look very bad. Zero quality.

  • Their leather interior, the inner lining that I told you was leather and I thought it was a quality sample, while it looks like it, it is not. Why? Because in about six months of use, it tore (internally, of course, since we are talking about the inner lining) at the heel area, so now it is rough and easily damages the socks you wear.

  • The outer sole, the tread sole, you won't believe it, but on even slightly wet cement surfaces, like the old white tiles of the sidewalks, it slips like the devil. It is dangerous. I didn't believe it either because, if anything, a tread sole predisposes you to believe that it will be slip-resistant. It is dangerous for someone to slip and fall. In dirt, of course, it is fine, but as I told you, I have used them in an urban environment.

  • Overall, they are warm, but not in intense cold. When Athens had intense cold (a few times), my feet were frozen, and it was very uncomfortable. However, this was rare since, for the majority of the winter and with the temperatures it has, they maintained a satisfactory temperature.

  For their price, they are not worth it. In the past, Timberland boots were indeed very sturdy and resistant to hardships and time. Unfortunately, for the past decade, they have deteriorated and they are just selling the brand.

  I do not recommend them for someone who wants a durable boot.

  Initial impression:
  The photo does not do justice to this particular model, it is even more beautiful up close, without the flaws that appear in the photo. This specific boot has a premium suede feeling, and the extra cost is reflected in its details, compared to the cheaper lumberjack equivalent.

  Key points:

  1) Waterproof is standard in all 6-inch boots of the company, whether basic or premium, so I don't consider it a positive point.

  2) This model is the light version without the crazy insulation of the premium boot, and the premium antifatigue insole. The difference between them is 556 grams (Radford) and 822 grams (premium), but this does not make it a basic model because (3):

  3) This model features Sensorflex technology in the sole. In other words, the sole is divided into 2 parts, high-density foam rubber and non-slip hard rubber. Similar technology to sneakers in a full-size boot, which can be observed from the lines and material difference in the photo.

  4) It has a logo on the tongue, which is a nice detail in my opinion.

  5) It is not true to size obviously, you will need half or one size smaller. Personally, I wear size 45 in most sneakers, 45.5 in tight fit. Here I needed size 44. The company recommends half size down on the website, of course. I recommend trying them on in the store, as there are physical stores of authorized resellers with good prices, as I did.

  Casual/walking/light work use:

  The boot is fashionable, easy to combine, and the design is sleek. Due to the color and shape, it does not look bulky on the feet. The sensorflex (hybrid sole of 2 materials) is a strong point of this boot as it offers flexibility and a semi-sneaker feeling, as well as its low weight. These make it one of the "most walk-friendly" models of the company in a full boot. They are very lightweight, without sacrificing material quality, and they are warm but not the warmest of the company as it is the light model. The insole is a simple but good insole, not the premium anti-fatigue insole provided in the premium model. For a boot, it is quite comfortable, but remember that it is a boot, not adidas ultraboost.

  Heavy-duty work/misuse/mountain use:
  If you want the boot for heavy-duty use and misuse, I don't think this is the model you are looking for. I believe the sensorflex sole will be more easily damaged in environments with rocks or sharp terrain, and the insulation is light, so they are not the warmest of the company in case you work in the snow. For the same price, if you are looking for durability in misuse, prefer the 6-inch premium models. Personally, if I were looking for a work boot, I might even buy something like army-style combat boots or Magnum EKAM-type at one-third of the price.

  I give it 4.5 stars, not so much for the absolute price. I knew what I was buying from the beginning (Timberland), so I consider it unfair to complain about the price, which, as we mentioned, is reflected in the details, but a comparable competitor comes quite close to Timberland offering its own at half the price. I give 4.5 stars because at this price, the company should provide the premium antifatigue insole to further enhance the sensorflex experience. Speaking of retail price, premium 200 > Radford 190 > basic 165. It could easily have the same insole as the premium. So I round up to 5 stars, and I will downgrade to 4 stars in a later review if it shows wear on the sole sooner than expected (2 seasons).
