For many years, I have been searching for a book that explains in depth the four different temperaments of the ancient Greek physicians, Hippocrates and Galen. I knew from some physiognomy books that these temperaments exist and that what was said in antiquity still holds true today.

So, while researching bookstores, I found the work, WHAT TEMPERAMENT ARE YOU, and at a very low price on sale. And I did not regret buying this book for a moment.

The chapters of this great work are as follows:

Part 1: Introduction to the four temperaments

    1. The Four Temperaments: A Useful Guide
    2. The History of the Four Temperaments
    3. The Four Temperaments in Brief
    4. How Temperaments Change over Time
    5. Temperaments and Zodiac Signs
    6. How to Use Temperaments to Better Understand Yourself and Others
    7. How to Find Love, Health, Wealth, and Happiness
    8. Personality Quiz

    Part 2: The Temperaments

    9. The Developmental Pattern of Each Temperament
    10. The Choleric Temperament
    11. The Melancholic Temperament
    12. The Phlegmatic Temperament
    13. The Sanguine Temperament

Part 3: Taking a Step Further

    14. Love and Compatibility
    15. Combinations of Temperaments
    16. Subcategories of Each Temperament

I am writing to you the dedication of the author herself, which moved me, as I am often moved by the various dedications I find in the various books I read: "This book is dedicated to all the people, of every temperament, who make up the endless variety of different personalities that make our world fascinating. It is also dedicated to the ancient Greeks, who first developed this idea."

As you can understand from the dedication, this is a work written with great passion and love for the many and very different people we encounter around us every day.

Not all people are the same. And with this extensive work, you will delve deep to understand all kinds of people in the most scientific, valid, modern, and classical way.

This book is written by the scientist, Mrs. Xandria Williams, with subtle humor, directness, honesty, and sincerity. Many times in her work, the author uses very long sentences. This automatically makes the book more difficult to understand and challenging to read. In my old writings and reviews, I also made this mistake, but I realized it in time and corrected it from an early stage onwards.

When I read the detailed analysis of my own temperament, I was deeply moved and shed tears of joy. The work technically falls into the self-help category. But personally, it doesn't bother me at all. I approached it and read it as a book of knowledge and psychology.

The translation by Giannis Stratakis from English is one of the best I have ever read. Mr. Stratakis did an incredibly good job as a translator, and he deserves congratulations. Additionally, the editing and proofreading are also very good. The book, mainly due to its large volume, has very few typographical errors, if any. In terms of linguistic correctness, the work is impeccable. I also corrected some mistakes I make in my written speech through this book.

The binding, since the book is not hardcover, is excellent. At least as far as my copy is concerned. The plasticized cover with the apples of different colors, which obviously symbolize the 4 basic temperaments, is very beautiful, modern, and attractive. When it caught my eye in the bookstore, I immediately picked up this work to see what it was about.

The book has tabs in the front and back. Something that was very convenient for me as I didn't need a bookmark. Not all books have tabs, keep that in mind.

In conclusion, this work is the best and most comprehensive study on the 4 temperaments of Hippocrates and Galen that you can find. Written and enriched with all the latest, contemporary developments in the field of Science. I believe it is an excellent treatise that can practically and theoretically help many people understand themselves better, their tendencies, their strengths and weaknesses, and significantly improve their relationship with those around them. Enjoy it!
