Description

Urban planning, like spatial planning, belongs as an application to a technical field and may give the impression that it can be understood and practiced based on simple empirical knowledge. However, every such knowledge is simply unconscious and fragmentary theory.

Internationally, there is a rich literature on programming theory, but the same does not apply in our country. Relevant bibliographic discussions are certainly encountered, but they do not extend to an in-depth exploration of the theory and combine it with issues that are certainly necessary for a comprehensive understanding of the field but supplementary in terms of theory, such as spatial policies, urban and spatial development, and legislation.

On the contrary, this book focuses on programming theory, with an emphasis on urban planning, and attempts to cover a range of scientific bases of the theory to the theory itself, in order to ultimately orient itself towards the bridge with the practice, which is the methodology of programming. At the same time, it tries to highlight a subject that is either neglected or distorted by international literature, the role of notation theory for the theory and practice of programming. It also includes a systematic development of urban design theories, proposing a relevant methodology from the perspective of the urban planner.

The book has the dual character of an introductory manual and scientific treatise. It is not only addressed to urban planners, spatial planners, and architects or to the corresponding undergraduate and postgraduate student world. It will also be of interest to certain other branches of engineering, such as civil engineers and agricultural and surveying engineers, as well as social scientists and scientists in the field of cultural studies.
