The Pedagogical School of the University of Western Macedonia, as part of its activities to support and promote the Greek language and culture, organized the International Conference on "Greek Language as a Second/Foreign Language: Research, Teaching, and Learning" in Florina from May 12th to 14th, 2006. [...] The international conference we organized provided a good opportunity for discussions and exchange of views among scholars and educators involved in primary and secondary education, dealing with issues related to intercultural education and the teaching of Greek as a second/foreign language to both Greek and non-Greek speakers. The findings and proceedings, which we are making available to interested parties from today, are expected to significantly assist those involved in the teaching of Greek as a second or foreign language in foreign countries and in areas with Greek diaspora, as well as in areas where the Greek language and culture are of lively interest to non-Greeks. [...]
