The murdered cousin belongs to the short stories of Le Fanu and is an excellent example of Victorian horror fiction. The story, narrated in the first person, takes place behind the enclosed walls of a ruined tower, in an environment where the conditions of an invisible horror create an atmosphere of suffocation. The heroine seems trapped in a dead end, in a predetermined fate. The only glimmer of light as she wanders terrified from room to room is her cousin - a weak creature who can offer her nothing more than unexpected consolation. With the goal of the inheritance, her cunning uncle and wicked cousin have woven a heinous conspiracy to eliminate her.
