In 1890, Vincent van Gogh settles in a humble boarding house in the village of Auvers-sur-Oise. He closely associates with Dr. Gachet, a friend of the impressionists.

The doctor's daughter, Marguerite Gachet, is a girl suffocating in the environment of family and general social oppression prevailing for women at that time. She will meet Van Gogh and become his lover.
