... Public debt is indeed the biggest problem facing the country. Not primarily an economic problem, but a political one. To be precise, a mindset problem. After the outbreak of the crisis in 2010, a perception prevailed in a large part of society that the Greek issue could be addressed externally, in an easy and painless way, by writing off a significant portion of the public debt, unilaterally or through international political consensus that would be reflected in an international conference convened for this purpose. When we reached the second program in October 2011, which provided for a drastic intervention in Greek public debt, an intervention supported and financed by the partners of the eurozone and organized on a voluntary basis to avoid the legal disputes that have plagued countries for decades that have made much smaller interventions in their public debt, then Greek fiscal nationalism was redirected. It engaged in a professionally organized communication campaign to challenge and discredit the largest reduction of public debt in global economic history. Therefore, while public debt has the potential to become the key to the country's future, the current government handles it in a deadlock and guilty manner, always captive to its irresponsible fiscal nationalism, despite its apparent transformation in July 2015. It is now obvious that the partners are taking full advantage of this government's captivity...
