  I have had it for about 4 years and it has not disappointed me... I have compared the measurements with a mercury thermometer and they are accurate when you have a fever, but when you are fever-free, it may show 35 degrees, which you don't take into account. When you have a fever, it takes a little longer to give you the temperature and you see the reading gradually rise until it stops and you hear the audible signal.

  It works! Other products from the pharmacy were all over the place, I have bought 2-3 of these (for my mother, mother-in-law, etc.) and they all work great and are reliable. However, we don't need to search for absolute accuracy anymore (like when the first child was a newborn and you panic when their temperature reaches 38.5, as if something bad will happen), now with the kids being older and us being veterans in childhood and adult illnesses, it covers us just fine!
  (It's very helpful and I share it for those who want to be reassured, a quote from our beloved pediatrician: "treating every slight fever with antipyretics is like tying up the dog when burglars enter the house." Fever is not an illness, it's the body heating up to fight the enemy... let it do its job (within reasonable limits and if your doctor has told you there is no reason to panic... for example, a temperature of 39.9 for two consecutive nights is a sign of a more serious problem than a 39.9 for two nights in a row)

  I will agree that sometimes it seems to be all over the place when we are fine, but when we have a fever, it works perfectly. I have another old one of the same brand, so I bought this one. From another company I bought one that worked for only one day! I bought it for 4.5 euros from a pharmacy.

  When we first tried it on ourselves, it showed inaccurate measurement. "Lo" does not mean low battery but low temperature. According to the pediatrician, you start the measurement when it shows "Lo", when it beeps you wait another 1' and see the final temperature. It needs to be well placed in the child's armpit, ideally we hold it in our arms to keep it still.

  Update: it loses quite a bit! Even in adults, it shows random numbers many times. 32.2, 35.00, etc. And when it's time to have a fever, you don't know exactly how much you have. It's a lottery to get an accurate measurement.

  -The plastic feels of higher quality compared to others I have used (time will tell).
  -The indications are accurate (based on a mercury thermometer), but even so, you will never know if you have 37.2 or 37.5.
  -Let's not lie, either it costs 2€ or 5€ or 60€, electronic ones show random results. None of them are like the mercury one (But be careful not to break it, mercury is a radioactive carcinogenic material, that's why they have been withdrawn from the market)
