Two dead prostitutes within a month. Two identical murders in a dark corner of Athens. The game has just begun. The Chess Player smiles. He plays second, but that's not a problem for him. After all, he knows the secrets of this game. A game that imitates life so well, like no other. A game of strategy that praises the value of sacrifice for the sake of ultimate victory. Yes, the Chess Player knows this secret very well and is ready to sacrifice everything to win this game.

Ambitious journalists, capable and dedicated police officers, powerful politicians, mysterious and ruthless individuals, have been set up by his invisible hand on the chessboard with only one weapon in their quiver, the illusion of free will. Fatal heroes in a risky game, where the roles of the perpetrator and the victim are impossible to discern. In a game where death lurks in every move.

Can you find out who the Chess Player is?

Two prostitutes were found dead, and it doesn't take much thought to think that the case involves a serial killer. So Michalis is called upon to write articles about this case, conducting detailed research and getting involved in very dangerous paths, which he certainly won't come out unscathed from. But as the days go by, the situation becomes more complicated. Lives are at risk, mysteries are created, and no answer is found. Who is behind the murders? What is the motive? How far can the need for revenge go? It is a very clever and well-written crime novel full of action and suspense that is truly read effortlessly.

The book had won me over from the beginning, but what made me generously give it five stars was the ending. I had multiple brain explosions and my mouth was open until I finished the book. If you read it, it may seem a bit sick (or very sick) to you, but the plot twist is so powerful that it truly deserves it.

In conclusion, anyone looking for a fast-paced and clever crime novel, with lots of suspense and a shocking ending, should read "The Chess Player" and they will remember me.

"Welcome to Zone 5.

Here, sadness and any expression of it are forbidden.

Tears and the color black are forbidden here.

Pain and its memory are forbidden here."

This is the story of a woman who entered Zone 5 to reunite with her child. Her only mission is to not shed a tear, to not break down no matter what her eyes witness.

And maybe she will succeed... as long as she stops whispering at night that she never experienced any other torture except for the torment of his voice.

Eirini Vardaki, with her new book, takes us to a parallel world, where everything strongly resembles today..."

Epidemic of acute reactive depression. People are collapsing like mice. Some jump on the rails, some cut their veins, some jump from rooftops, some take pills, and so on. Uncontrolled suicides in a few words. And then, a coup. People are now divided into 5 zones: Zone 1: privilege Zone 5: nightmare Negative emotions are forbidden. No crying, no sadness, no disappointment. Otherwise, death. When Lisa's son is transferred to Zone 5, her life turns upside down. How far will she go to find him?

This book was a pleasant surprise for me. Of course, I had seen all the positive comments it had received, but I kept my expectations low, and in the end, I was impressed. Smart, original story, fast-paced plot, beautiful descriptive writing, twists, and emotions. What else could I ask for?

"Because out of all the solitudes in the world, the most terrifying one is the one that will call you by the name that everyone who loved you used to call you."

[3] The Flame of Eleganti by Christina Psylla from Pigi Publications

I passed through a book, into a world where magical creatures are considered normal. They tell me that I belong to a race of people endowed with the ability to manipulate the elements of matter and mind.
However, I have no magical power; or at least, that's what I believed. Unexplained attacks, unrequited loves, and wicked conspiracies envelop the Nymph Academy. My question is one: Since I was not part of the story, why do many of these concern me?
I found myself here for a reason.

I believe we have all reached a point in our lives where we want to completely change reality. And so did Eliza. Having become disillusioned with the situation prevailing in her family, she finds some peace in the pages of a book she randomly chose at the bookstore. However, suddenly and inexplicably, she is transported to another world. The world of the book she was reading. The world of the Nymph Academy. She has no idea how this happened, just as she cannot comprehend that she is now in a place where people have magical powers, fairies with elves are real beings, and secrets are hidden everywhere.

In her first attempt at writing, the author created a fantasy novel that exceeded my expectations. Generally, I don't have much experience with fantasy books, but this one definitely satisfied my "boxes":

▪️Beautiful vivid descriptions

▪️Distinct magical world

▪️Stubborn and headstrong protagonist who was definitely dynamic and smart

▪️Mysterious, tall (essential), and handsome protagonist

▪️Intense tension between the main love story characters that make you lose faith with their on and offs

▪️Plot Twists

▪️Suspense, action, and mystery

▪️Reads effortlessly without getting tired

What? Still not convinced? It is definitely a very nice book that belongs to the young adult category, and it kept me company for two days (I devoured it so quickly), making me immediately want the next one.
